We spent a lot of time deciding the final design of this boat. The hull was laid out as designed by naval architect Steve Killing;the deck however is my original idea.

We had lots of help from Kurtis Arnold (who had built a double kayak earlier)-a man of many interests:air traffic controller, musician and a hopelessly chronic builder.

The deck beams were designed by Brent Allen using a C.A.D. program the cut by him from 3/4" marine plywood using a CNC machine.

We had to check out the mechanicals before completing the decks. This was necessary to ensure that we had a full range of motion and that all the cable could be routed properly.

In the same way as I had built a kayak earlier, I decided to build a removeable deck such that it also could be 'glassed on the underside.
There were lots of pattern possibilities for this stage.

The fore and aft decks have now been all built and sanded; this is just before setting up to add cloth and resin to these surfaces also.
