Traditional Hardwood Paddles
Our paddles are made from hardwoods which grow in Southern Ontario. These woods have proven themselves over the past 100 plus years of canoeing. It would be fair to note that the number one choice of a wood has been Black Cherry. This wood is beautiful to appreciate, has a good weight-strength relationship and machines well making for a good, long lasting paddle. These are SOLID-no laminations.

And, for those who would like to complete their own paddle, we have available UNFINISHED PADDLES.
(shown above: 5 black cherry beavertail style blades)
These have been shaped and partially sanded with 60 grit sanding paper; you do the finishing sanding and possibly some art work or laser burning to personalize the paddle especially if it is a gift.
Then, the finish with rubbed oil or marine spar varnish would be applied.
These unfinished paddles are sold in lots of 5 paddles as they are primarily meant for groups and clubs.
A group of 5 will be of ONE WOOD type ( poplar/ ash/cherry/butternut/walnut- your choice) and ONE BLADE SHAPE but different lengths as needed.
